Glass cuvets and cells are suitable for visible region and routine ultraviolet work; quartz cuvets and cells work best for ultraviolet to far-infrared transmissions. Use polystyrene cuvets and cells for the visible spectrum and methacrylate for the UV/Vis wavelength range.
